Sunsets

At the end of September last year there was a fantastic sunset. I only had time to take a few shots of the sunset from my bedroom window by the time I spotted it. Some excellent blood red skies over Chelmsford.

Black and White

I have just added a new folder to my photo album - Black and White. Hopefully next year I will be a bit more active with my photography and be able to add plenty of new pics. For now here are a couple of portrait shots.

Chelmsford Cathedral

Here are some photos of Chelmsford Cathedral. I took these photos on the day I bought my new Sigma 30mm lens for my Canon EOS 20D. The Cathedral is the closest place to camera shop that can be photographed without too many people watching you suspiciously. I rather like the tree in blossom personally, hope you enjoy them.

Ireland: Dublin, Donegal, Giants Causeway and Matt and Cora's Wedding

This year my old mate Matt Murphy got married to Cora Clark, and the wedding was in Cora's hometown Donegal, Ireland. My wife and I flew to Dublin where we spent a couple of nights, then drove to Donegal. While there we went to Glencolumbkille to see ancient standing stones, Lough Derg to look at St. Patrick's Purgatory (from afar), Rossnowlagh Beach, Sleive League (Europe's highest sea cliffs - we only saw clouds though). We also had a boat trip as part of the wedding celebrations. On the way home we stopped at the Giant's Causeway, which was nice. Didn't see and giants though.

Macro Photography

Sometimes I like to experiment. This year I bought some extension tubes for my Canon digital SLR and took some macro pics. I am quite please with the results considering I did little in the way of setting up the shots. Just used natural light. Hope to have another go soon. Click on the photo to go to the album.

Wheat Fields of Essex

Last summer I took a walk around some fine wheat fields in West Hanningfield, Essex. I had been planning to photograph wheat fields for several years, but every year the harvest came and I was too late. So this year I made the effort on a hot sunny day. I was not prepared at all, and by the end of the day my legs were covered in cuts, grazes and rashes from all the local wildlife, but it was worth it for a couple of nice photos. Welcome to JPW Photography

Welcome to JPW Photography. This is the new home for all my photos - or at least will be once I wort them all out. For now there are just a few albums of photos taken this year, form Matt and Cora's wedding in Ireland, some pics of the wheat fields around West Hanningfield in Essex, plus some other random photos.

I have decided that this will be more of photo blog than a traditional photo album site. But I plan to still use Jalbum to publish the albums - Blogger will provide the entry point to all the albums. I hope my plan works! I still have my old blog, which will publish articles, reviews, news, tips etc. on photography in general.

I have also recently moved servers so some thumbnails are a bit corrupted, these will be uploaded again soon hopefully.
